Gagan Sethi has 30 years of experience in organizational development, capacity building and advocacy at local, national & international levels in diverse cultural settings in Asia. He is a recognized leader in policy formulation, facilitating development projects and advocating for minority rights. Previously, he has been Co-chair of Consultative group set up by the Planning Commission of India to draft Voluntary agency policy.

He was also co-opted as member of assessment and monitoring authority set up under the Planning Commission of India, was a Mission member with EDI to the Government of Mauritius to help draft the Volag policy. He is a member of the drafting committee of the Nyaya Panchayat Act. He is the founder of ten development organizations working on areas of human & institutional development, access to legal justice, women empowerment, conflict management, minority and Dalit rights as well as youth employment and education.

He is the Founder of Janvikas, a development support and training organisation, and Centre for Social Justice, a human rights and Access to Justice initiative working in South Asia. He has helped set up several strategic organisations in the country such as the Kutch Mahila Vikas Sangathan, Sahjeevan, Drishti, Centre for Social Justice, HID Forum and many more. He is an experienced international trainer and consultant in organizational development, planning & review to several international and national funding agencies, think tanks and development projects for over two decades.

Some of his clients have included GTZ, Swiss Development Co-operation, Christian Aid, Ford Foundation, Misereor, IGSSS, Swiss Aid in India. He has authored books on legal aid, gender, non-profit governance, and communal violence in Gujarat.
