Rajan Sankar is the Founding Director at The India Nutrition Initiative (TINI) and the Senior Advisor for Nutrition at Tata Trusts. Before joining the Trusts, he was Country Manager, India, and Regional Representative, South Asia at Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) for nearly a decade.

He established GAIN’s presence in India and Bangladesh and has also served with the UNICEF India Country Office for a year as a Nutrition Specialist and before that with the Nutrition International (Micronutrient Initiative) as Senior Technical Advisor for Asia. In the last three decades, he has established a few nutrition initiatives in India and Bangladesh and has directed several large-scale programs for the elimination of iodine deficiency disorders, and other micronutrient deficiencies, and to improve maternally, infant, and young child nutrition.

He has also worked extensively with governments in India and many countries in South and Southeast Asia. He has helped build multi-sectoral alliances of governments, businesses, and civil society organizations in India and Bangladesh to help transform the environment for nutrition programming.
