Mr. Alok Mishra is a Civil Servant with over 23 years of experience. He has recently joined as Additional Director General (Media & Communication) Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Food & Public Distribution, Consumer Affairs, Heavy Industries and Textiles, Government of India.
Until recently, Alok was posted as Deputy Director General in the Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office in NITI Aayog, where he oversaw evaluation studies of government schemes, external engagement with International Organizations and Academic Institutions besides capacity building, competency framework development and national evaluation policy.
Earlier, he worked as Senior Deputy Director at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie, where he taught Economics, Management, Evidence-based policy and media communication. Mr. Mishra has also worked as Director (IITs & IIITs) and later as Director (International Cooperation) in Ministry of HRD where he oversaw policy and funding for IITs and IIITs, the National Ranking Framework, Global Initiative for Academic Networks (GIAN) and Industry-Academia Collaborations.
He served as member of Finance Committees and Board of Governors of IITs and IIITs. As Director (International Cooperation), Mr. Mishra was involved in bilateral and multi-lateral international negotiations for Academic & Research Collaborations besides overseeing operations of Auroville Foundation, SICI (Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute) and served as Secretary, Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO; Mr. Mishra is B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi and a Gold Medallist of PG in Public Policy & Management from IIM Bangalore & Syracuse University, USA.
