Anurag Behar is the Chief Executive Officer, of Azim Premji Foundation and is the founding Vice-Chancellor of Azim Premji University. He has been a vocal advocate for the critical importance of public systems, in particular the public education system. Anurag has also led the social and ecological initiatives of Wipro Ltd for two decades. Anurag earlier played multiple leadership roles in business. As the CEO of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering, he led a large global business and Wipro’s investments in two strategic diversifications – in the Clean Energy and Water sectors.

Anurag was a member of the committee that developed India’s National Education Policy 2020 and is a member of the committee developing the National Curricular Framework 2022. He serves on various government, boards, & industry councils, such as the National Mission on Teachers and Teacher Education, the board of National Centre for Biological Sciences, and the CII’s National Climate Change Council and the Skills Council. He writes widely, including regular columns in the Mint and the Hindustan.
