Transform Rural India (TRI) supported State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development (SIPRD) Assam in a comprehensive research study on ‘Good governance in Gram Panchayats of Assam in the year 2022-23’. The study involved 496 PRI representatives, one from each panchayat across 27 PRI districts of Assam and 100 citizens from 44 Panchayats in 8 PRI districts of Assam. The questionnaire covered six sections: general information, factors contributing to good governance, current state assessment, transparency and accountability, challenges & opportunities, and recommendations. The study’s objective was to assess the current state of governance, transparency, accountability, and participation in Assam’s GPs, and to provide recommendations for improvement.
