India will grow old before it grows rich; it will grow old in its villages first. It will unfold among its women, and within families now half the size they were generations ago and once shared the burden of care. The systems we built for yesterday’s diseases cannot sustain tomorrow’s care needs. This paper argues that the answer lies not in more of the medicines, but in building Neighbourhoods of Care.
