State level Millet Carnival Fest was organized in Raipur city of Chhattisgarh from February 17 to 19. In which stalls of different types of products made from millet (market and grain) were set up by groups of more than 30 representatives from different districts across the country.

Ragi laddoos made in Gumla district represented the whole of Jharkhand. A team of 13 members to represent the district in this carnival included women FPOs, committee members, representatives of JSLPS, representatives of agriculture department, representatives of industries department, fellows.

Ragi laddoos made from ragi, gond, desi ghee, dry fruits were liked not only by the senior office bearers of Chhattisgarh but also by all the companies and organizations from across the country. Praised the ragi laddoos of the district. More than 200 boxes of Johar Ragi Laddoos worth more than 50,000 were sold during the 2-day carnival. This nutritious laddu was very much liked by the people.

In the carnival, 13 major companies from across the country mainly do their business on various products made of millet. By the way, along with big companies, coordination was established with the district team. Also, all the companies liked this ragi ladoos very much. All these companies make different types of products related to ragi. Also provides assistance in the market.

During this, institutions and companies like Enrich, Immuno Millet, Indian Institute of Millet Research Hyderabad, Millet Cafe Raipur, Transforming Rural India Foundation (TRIF) etc. showed interest for the large business of ragi laddoos and working with the district team. discussed.

In order to generate means of employment for women farmers associated with ragi, a ragi processing unit was constructed in 10 thousand square feet by the district administration with the help of JSLPS and various types of ragi processing machines were installed in it. In this sequence, Johar Ragi Laddu was made by the rural women associated with ragi processing, which was launched by the Deputy Commissioner.

Johar Ragi Laddoos were very much liked by all the people across the district, based on the positive feedback, Ragi Laddoos were presented at the 2-day state level Millet Carnival organized in Chhattisgarh. Ragi laddoos were liked by all the organizations that came from all over the country.

Promotion of ragi cultivation in the district

Ragi cultivation is being promoted in the district. Ragi cultivation has not only improved the economic condition of the farmers, but an initiative has also been taken to rid the district from the curse of malnutrition.

Ragi crop was produced on a large scale this year as compared to last year, with most of the women farmers contributing in the cultivation of ragi. For which 20,000 kg of ragi seeds were distributed free of cost among more than 4500 farmers across the district by the district administration. Due to which 65,000 kg of produced ragi was procured from the farmers.

Seeing the success of Ragi in the district, it was decided to organize Ragi Fest in Gumla.

The Deputy Commissioner thanked the entire team for the excellent work done by the district team. Along with this, on the basis of the feedback received from people across the district and the carnival of Raipur, the Deputy Commissioner decided to take ragi laddoos and products made from ragi in the district on a large scale. It was decided by the Deputy Commissioner to organize one day ragi fest on a large scale in the district.

In which all the districts of the state will be able to participate. Along with this, it was also decided to open Johar Ragi Cafe to be run by the women of the district. The Deputy Commissioner congratulated all the residents of the district, JLLPS didis and the office bearers along with the entire team on the success of Ragi. Seeing this success as the first step, he has thought of taking forward the products manufactured in Gumla district on a large scale and at the national level.
